What Is Power Couponing?

Power couponing is a new way of using coupons to save money. It's combining or stacking coupons together to get the very best deals available. It's also knowing when to use your coupons and when to wait for a better deal. It's not your mother's coupon clipping!

Check out the Bloggy Giveaways Fall Carnival 2008!  There are nearly 1500 giveaways listed.  Browse through the list and enter to win free giveaways.  My favorites are the Starbucks, Target, and Amazon gift card giveaways, but there are all kinds of items you could win – scrapbook albums, ebooks, coupons, CDs, and cookbooks.  Of course to enter them all could take you all day!

One of the things I love about these giveaway carnivals (besides winning!) is the chance to discover new blogs.   Be sure to read a few posts from the blogs when you make your entries.  You never know when you’ll find a new “must-read” blog for your RSS reader.

I tried Restaurant.com for the first time last Sunday.  I bought a $25 gift certificate (that is normally $10) for only $4 using a current coupon code a few weeks ago.  Now, you can get an even better deal.  Restaurant.com has a coupon code for 80% off!  That means you can buy a $25 gift certificate for only $2.  The coupon code is TREATS, and it’s only good through Halloween, October 31, 2008.

I used my gift certificate at a local restaurant here in the Chicago suburbs.  I have to say it was extremely easy to use. There were no hassles at all.  You do have to carefully read the restrictions and conditions on the gift certificates.  For my restaurant, it was good only Sunday-Friday, and I had to spend at least $35.  They also added in an 18% gratuity.

Don’t wait too long.  Some of the popular restaurants in my area are already out of stock for gift certificates.  Give Restaurant.com a try.  It’s a great way to get a discount at a favorite restaurant or try a new one.

Saving Money Ideas had a great post filled with “Worthwhile Printable Coupons.”  If you’ve never tried using printable coupons before, this is a great list to start with.  I can never get enough cereal coupons, and there’s one for Kellogg’s and one for Quaker Instant Oatmeal on this list, along with many other printable coupons for groceries.

Get them while you can.  Printable coupons are usually only available for a limited time.

Worthwhile Printable Coupons

Yesterday, I got my flu shot at my local Dominick’s (Safeway) and saved money on my grocery bill at the same time.  Right now, if you get your flu shot at Dominick’s you get a coupon for 10% off your next grocery purchase.  I’m actually saving mine for this week’s shopping trip.  I only picked up a few things while I was there getting the flu shot.  The coupon is only good for 7 days.  So be sure to remember to use yours.

Dominick’s is part of the Safeway grocery chain, and your local Safeway may have the same deal.  As a side note, I also filled a new prescription there yesterday, and received a $30 Dominicks gift card using the coupon in last Wednesday’s Dominicks add!
