GLENDALE, CA - MAY 02: A ''Linens 'n Things'' ...

In case you haven’t heard, as of today, all Linens N Things stores are going out of business.  The signs on the store windows say up to 30% off.  Here are a few of my observations while I shopped at my local store today:

1. Everything in the store is at least 10% off and up to 30% up.  From my shopping trip today, most items were only 10% off, and I did see a few things that were 20% off, but I didn’t see anything for 30% off.  Cookware was 10% off as was holiday merchandise.  Bath rugs were 20% off.

2. They are no longer accepting Linens N Things coupons.  Ok, so this is where you really have to consider if 10% is a good deal or not.  If you were planning to run in today to buy a particular item with your 20% on one item coupon (in last Sunday’s newspaper), you are too late.  You can get the item for 10% off.  If you plan to buy several items, you may still make out okay, because the 10% off is on everything, not just one item.

3.  Forget the sales you saw in Sunday’s newpaper flyer.  It looks like all those are no longer running.  It’s 10-30% going out of business sale only.

4. Another shopper told me she was there to use up a Linens N Things gift card.  Good idea!  I’d definitely get those spent as soon as possible.  So far, my store is still accepting them.

So throw away that Linens N Things coupon, and keep in mind, this was my experience at my local Linens N Things in Illinois.  Did anyone find any good deals at the Linens N Things Going Out of Business Sale?
